Cahaba Valley Elks Lodge 1738 supports the Shelby County Foster Parent Association. The Shelby County Foster and Adoptive Parent Association strengthens foster families through locally focused advocacy; training, education, publications, and networking among foster parents in PARTNERSHIP Shelby County Department of Human Resources and other associated entities. Everything we do serves the best interest of children in the foster care system, from fulfillment of their spiritual, physical, emotional and social needs. In June CVEL Charities Committee donated supplies to The Hanger located in Columbiana, AL. The Hanger is a distribution center for the Shelby County Foster Parents Association that serves approximately 140 foster children and assists about 80 foster parents. Donations included children’s clothes, baby needs, school supplies, food staples and a check to assist with foster children birthday parties.
