Member Enrichment

The Cahaba Valley Elks Lodge has initiated a member enrichment program designed to benefit all members through educational and engaging activities. As part of this initiative, the Lodge will host a series of monthly speakers. Each speaker will present on topics that are relevant and important to our members, ensuring that the content provides value and addresses members’ interests and needs.

CVEL’s first guest speaker for 2026 was Shane Welch from Eternal Family Legacy. Shane explained to members the steps for researching and recording family history. The research steps included how to include ancestral pictures and documents. Visit www.eternalfamilylegacy.com.

Since January 2025, the Lodge has welcomed a variety of speakers to address topics pertinent to our membership:

Katy Brasfield, Director of Liberty Learning introduced Liberty Learning’s patriotic citizenship programs, which are offered to local schools. She also highlighted opportunities for Lodge members to support these programs during school visits, fostering community engagement and civic responsibility.

She is scheduled to return to the Lodge in February to continue her educational efforts, with a focus on issues relevant to Elder Justice.
