PER Sharon Gaydon was recognized on installation night with the presentation of the Alabama Elks Association Veteran Volunteer of the Year Award. Her continuous service for residents of the Colonel Howard Veterans’ Home, Three Hots and a Cot, and the Alabama National Cemetery is appreciated.

PER Shannon Hubbard presented special awards during the installation of the Cahaba Valley incoming officers for 2026-20267. Leon Johnston for his service as Lodge secretary from 2003-2026.

The installation of 2026-2027officers on March 30 was highlighted by the recognition of Cahaba Valley’s Officer of the year, Mary Ann Mckim. Her years of service as Chaplin ands as the Lodge’s Bargain Hunter for Charity Shopping Projects are much appreciated.

The 2026-2027 CVEL Installation recognized a number of members whose service made a difference for community youth, veterans, and charities. The Lodge also honored local citizen, C. Peter Smith and his wife, with the Elks Distinguished Citizenship Award for supporting the Lodge activities.

During the installation of the 2026-2027 Cahaba Valley officers, PER Shannon Hubbard honored Bob Shinpaugh for his years of service 2015-2026 as Lodge treasurer.

During the Lodge’s Installation and Awards program, Wayne Noe was recognized as the 2026 Elk of the Year for the Cahaba Valley Elks Lodge. Wayne is the kind of person who doesn’t look for recognition. He just quietly does what is needed for the organization, for Veterans, and for the many youth programs sponsored by Cahaba Valley.


On March 30 Cahaba Valley Elks Lodge No 1738 installed the officers for 2026-2027. Dinner from Mo’s was provided by the incoming ER, Marvin Johnson and his family, members Greg and Robin Hussey
