Cahaba Valley Elks Lodge held its 2024 Hoop Shoot Contest Friday, November 22 at the Pelham Parks & Recreation. CVEL member, Maurice Mercer, served as Chairman. Maurice and CVEL volunteers, along with Pelham Park staff members served as officials. Cahaba Valley’s local contest with 29 participants was a big success. The CVEL winners will advance to the District Competition at the Bessemer Recreation Center on January 25. Youth ages 8-13 advance through local Lodge contests, Districts, States, and Regionals to the National Finals in Chicago. Six National Champions will have their names and photos displayed at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
